A day in the life of a Rental Agent!

If you are considering an internship in Barcelona this is the perfect place to start. Learn all about life as a rental agent in an international real estate company!

10.00 am

The day of a Rental Agent starts at 10am, we arrive in the office and say hi to the team. The day starts with the team morning meeting, this gives us all the chance to check in and update each other on the tasks we will be focusing on today. We use the meeting to outline our goals for the day, and on Monday, we present the weekly presentation to update on what we achieved in the previous week and any team news.

11.00 am

In the morning I tend to get back to clients and owners, we try and be quick in replying to ensure we’re always providing a good service. I also spend some time flat finding where we call rental owners to convince them to work with us – this is a great chance to practice your Spanish professionally. The team often works together on this to motivate each other and share tips. If we’re not flat finding, it’s a great time to do Upcoming Calendar (UC). This is where we call owners who have worked with us before to check the availabilities of their properties. It’s a great way to Flat Find, meaning you get to take on the clients for any flat you republish when doing UC.

01:00 pm

Time to take a break out of the busy schedule and relax. We get an hour for lunch every day either at 1pm or 2pm, many interns like to catch up in the nearby park and make the most of the Barcelona sunshine! We often get lunch together at nearby restaurants or food stalls – there are so many amazing options nearby! We get to take a break from the busy day and relax.

02.00 pm

In the afternoon, you might have a visit to go on. Maybe it’s a photo visit, where you accompany a Marketing intern to take pictures of a flat. The property might be a new flat find, or perhaps we’re taking updated pictures so that the flat is more easily rented out. As rental agents, we of course go on visits with clients to show apartments. This is a great opportunity to improve your confidence, people skills, and organization. We can visit apartments with several clients, all with the aim of getting a deal. We show the apartment, answer questions the client may have, and generally get to know them.

04:00 pm

Casamona likes to make sure each intern is getting the most out of the experience, and so you often find you spend some time working in another department. You can choose to learn about sales, marketing, HR, or even accounting depending on your skills and interests. There is a real focus on gaining true work experience and sometimes you might even surprise yourself with how much you enjoy different departments!

05:00 pm

Time for the afternoon meeting! We catch up on what we achieved today and reflect on the team’s performance. We then wrap up any tasks we are still working on and tidy up the office to finish the day.

One of the best things about Casamona is the interns, an international team of like-minded young interns who want to challenge themselves and are keen to learn. Working here, I have definitely improved many skills through various experiences and situations all of which will help me in my future career. It’s a great way to challenge yourself and improve both professional and personal skills, all whilst meeting great people from all around the world.
