A day in the life of Sales Agent

If you are considering an internship in Barcelona this is the perfect place to start. Learn all about life as a sales agent in an international real estate company!

10.00 am

The day of a Sales Agent starts at 10am, we arrive in the office and say hi to the team. The day starts with the team morning meeting, this gives us all the chance to check in and update each other on the tasks we will be focusing on today. We use the meeting to outline our tasks for the day, and on Monday, we present the weekly presentation to update on what we achieved in the previous week and any team news. The intern of the week is also announced! In addition, on the first Monday of every month, we have a monthly presentation, to recap everything that has gone on in the previous month. These meetings give everyone the opportunity to be aware of what is going on throughout the company.

11.00 am

In the morning, it is sensible to try and get back to all the clients and owners you have messages from. At Casamona, we do our best to try and provide quick service so that everyone feels well looked after. The morning is a good time to try and do some Flat Finding, where we attempt to convince owners to sell their properties with us. We find suitable properties by looking at portals such as Idealista, Fotocasa, and Habitaclia. Making these calls to owners is a really good way to improve your Spanish, having to speak professionally to owners. You might also have to upload properties, which we have been given permission to sell, onto our website.

01:00 pm

Time to take a break out of the busy schedule and relax. We get an hour for lunch every day either at 1pm or 2pm. Many of the interns like to eat lunch together, which really helps to build team spirit and togetherness! We often get lunch at nearby restaurants or food stalls – there are so many amazing options nearby! We get to take a break from the busy day and relax, taking in the beautiful Barcelona sun.

02.00 pm

In the afternoon (but also throughout the day), you may have a visit to go on. This may be a Flat Find visit, where you go and meet an owner, in a further attempt to convince them to allow us to list their property. Or it may be a visit with a client who is interested in purchasing one of our properties. Both of these types of visits really improve your organizational and interpersonal skills. In the sales department, we also have some clients who have a ‘buyer agent’ contract with us. With this type of client, we may be out visiting multiple properties in one day, in an attempt to find them their dream home! If you would like to learn further about exactly what a buyer agent is, you will find a page explaining on our website.

04:00 pm

Casamona likes to make sure each intern is getting the most out of the experience, and so you often find you spend some time working in another department. You can choose to learn about rentals, marketing, HR, or even accounting depending on your skills and interests. There is a real focus on gaining true work experience and sometimes you might even surprise yourself with how much you enjoy different departments! Furthermore, in sales, depending on whether you have any deals on the way, you may need to spend some time editing and writing up contracts for clients.

05:00 pm

At 5pm, we always have an afternoon meeting. This gives the coordinators of each department a chance to summarise what their teams have achieved that day and again allows everyone to keep up to date with what everyone else is doing. Without a doubt, one of the best things about working at Casamona is the other interns. Coming from all four corners of the globe, it is a truly international team; learning from and working with people from other cultures will really allow you to improve your skills in a work environment. For sales agents as well, the fact that the job is client-facing massively helps with interpersonal skills, something which will help you throughout your life!
